Introduction

This blog is intended to be an expression of my personal beliefs and opinions about United States and World Politics, US foreign and domestic policy and lawmaking, and general views on the world around me. With the recent landslide election of President Barack Obama to the most powerful office in the world, as well as a left-dominated Congress, I feel alienated and beaten down as a conservative-minded individual here in the US, which is the very reason I decided to write this blog. I will try to remain fair and objective, but I will not try to placate those whose opinions I disagree with.

We Hold These Truths...

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

This is one of the most famous sentences in all of history. The proclamation that separated us from tyranny. The words that still ring true in the hearts and minds of all Americans. Or at least they should. But what do these really mean? Have we, as a people, lost sight of the intentions of our founding fathers?

We hold these truths to be self-evident, [Self-evident. So inherent, so basic, so commonplace -- that they need no description, introduction, or explanation.] that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator [by their Creator. Not by a government, or an interest group, or by other people, but by their CREATOR By an almighty and all-powerful being.] certain unalienable Rights, [These rights cannot be taken away or surrendered.] that among these are Life, [the right to LIFE. It's stated clearly in our Declaration. Everyone is entitled to LIFE, regardless of their age or class standing or parents' past life decisions.] Liberty, [Liberty. Everyone is entitled to liberty. I take this to mean both personal and economic liberty. No government should tell me where to spend my money or what to do with it. No government should tell me how to life any aspect of my life, because it's not their right, it's mine. I was endowed this right by my Creator. No one can take it from me. No one.] and the pursuit of Happiness. [In the United States of America, we are entitled to pursue happiness in any way we can. We can get that house on the hill, that $80k sports car, that job and that family and that picket fence. We are entitled to pursue happiness. And no one can tell us not to]


My cohorts on the left side of the aisle tend to disagree with a lot of things said in that explanation. I tend to tell them how wrong they are, and perhaps this blog may be a lot of me stating by blatant disagreement. But what it all comes down to is that this country was founded upon values of SMALL government. The Americans had had enough of being bullied and taxed by the Crown. So they did something about it. No government should tell any man just how to live his life. Nor should it take his money without something in return. This new administration seems to overlook those facts. And if the trend continues as suggested, I should have a lot to write about in the next few years.
